The hottest team in the ACC will undergo a significant test on the road on Tuesday. We're back with our college basketball odds series, which includes our Miami-Florida State prediction, picks, odds, and more.

The Miami Hurricanes boast the biggest winning streak in the ACC, having won nine consecutive games. The Hurricanes are 5-0 in conference play and 13-3 outright on the season. Despite being the top team in the ACC, Miami enters the matchup against the Seminoles unranked. The Hurricanes have shaken off the rough start to the year that saw them suffer losses at the hands of UCF, Dayton, and Alabama. During their recent winning streak, however, Miami earned key victories over the likes of Clemson, Duke, and Syracuse. Miami will rely on the leadership of senior guard Kameron McGusty to guide them to a win over the Seminoles. On the year, McGusty is averaging 18.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Florida State enters the in-state rivalry game after having won their most recent bout against the Louisville Cardinals. Prior to that game, however, the ‘Noles suffered a brutal beatdown at the hands of Wake Forest. Currently 8-5 on the year, and 2-2 in conference play, the Seminoles will look to upset Miami on Tuesday night. To do so, Florida State will rely on big performances from their two leading scorers, sophomore guard Caleb Mills and senior forward Malik Osborne, who average 13.2 points and 11.5 points per game, respectively.

Why Miami Could Cover The Spread

The Hurricanes proved they aren't a farce after a stunning victory over the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday. They'll look to carry the momentum they've built throughout their nine-game win streak into Tallahassee on Tuesday. Miami hasn't lost a game since Nov. 28, having enjoyed a terrific month of December and an equally strong start to January. Kameron McGusty will look to continue his red-hot play of late. He's knocked down more than 50% of his 3-point attempts over the past five games, including a huge outing against Stetson during which he scored 27 points and hit 6-of-8 3's. A big night from McGusty could prove to be the difference-maker in this one, and he'll look to help extend Miami's win streak to double-digits.

It's not just McGusty who will be an X-factor in this one, however. Miami had four starters score over 14 points in their win against Duke, with Isaiah Wong (15 points), Jordan Miller (17 points), Charlie Moore (18 points), and McGusty (14 points) all scoring in double-digits. That type of all-around scoring from the Hurricanes could prove overwhelming for Florida State's defense.

Why Florida State Could Cover The Spread

While Miami has been the more competitive team in 2021-22, the Seminoles have a vice grip on the rivalry series throughout history. The ‘Noles have won each of the last eight matchups with Miami, a streak they'd be keen on continuing with a victory on Tuesday. Florida State has Miami's number, but they'll need big performances from key players in order to earn the victory on their home floor. They'll look to the likes of Mills, Osborne, Matthew Cleveland, and Anthony Polite to try and get the scoring started early on in order to keep up with the Hurricanes' offense.

Cleveland and Mills combined for 44 points in Florida State's win over Louisville, with the latter providing 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 3-for-5 from 3-point territory. A similarly big night from those two could see the Seminoles jump out to a solid lead in this matchup. Holding a seven-point lead against one of college hoops' hottest teams may be a difficult challenge for Florida State, but they have the star power to get the job done.

Final Miami-Florida State Prediction & Pick

I'm going with Miami to cover the spread at +6.5. The Hurricanes are one of the hottest teams in college hoops right now and they'll catch Florida State who just recently lost by 22 at the hands of Wake Forest. The Hurricanes are currently the better team in this matchup, and with McGusty leading the charge, they should have enough firepower to keep things close and cover the spread on Tuesday night.

Final Miami-Florida State Prediction & Pick: Miami +6.5 (-110)
