Deion Sanders is in his first year coaching the Colorado football team, and he has already made a ton of progress with the Buffaloes. It took just one game for Colorado to match their win total from a year ago, and it took just two games for the Buffaloes to exceed that 2022 win total. There is still a lot of work to be done, but it's not easy to bring back a program that was in such a low spot like Colorado was.
Colorado football started off the season with a road win against TCU, and the Buffaloes were 20-point underdogs heading into that game. They surged into the AP Poll after that win, but people have had to pump the brakes on Deion Sanders and Colorado in recent weeks. Their 3-0 record has since turned into a 4-3 record, and the Buffaloes are now fighting to make a bowl game. This team might not be as good as we originally thought, but Sanders still deserves a lot of credit for the turnaround.
A lot of prominent football figures have spoken about Sanders this season and how impressed they are with his coaching. Jerry Jones is one of the latest to offer his praise to Coach Prime as he has liked what he has seen so far.
“What I loved more than anything is when those players would come off that field and he was over there giving them some love, and those weren't his sons,” Jerry Jones said, according to an article from ESPN. “Oh, my goodness, I could see him sitting over there. I loved it. Let me tell you something: He's a hell of a coach. He's a hell of a coach.”
Jones has been with the Dallas Cowboys since 1989, and Sanders joined the Cowboys in 1995 when he was a player in the NFL. The two of them won a Super Bowl together in Dallas.
It's hard to find people that don't speak highly of the Colorado football coach. It's only year one of the Deion Sanders era in Boulder, and there is sure to be more excitement down the road.
