The Washington Commanders’ Week 3 home matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2022 season will be just another NFC East encounter for many players on the roster, but this game will mean a bit more to Carson Wentz.

For the first time since his departure from the Eagles, Wentz will meet his former team over the upcoming season, as the Commanders also have a date with Philadelphia in Week 10. The one-time Pro Bowler featured for the Indianapolis Colts last year, and their NFC schedule in the campaign consisted of four games against NFC West foes, along with a home clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

When asked during a press conference at Commanders' OTAs on whether he has “noticed” on the schedule that he will return to Philadelphia in Week 10, Wentz simply noted that he believes the game will be a “fun one.”

“Naturally, I kind of expected that, so I think that it’ll be a fun one, but that’s what Week 10,” Wentz said. “We’ll get there.”

With Wentz being back in the NFC East, he will once again square off with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants twice a year. Over his five-season run in Philadelphia, the veteran quarterback recorded a combined 25 passing touchdowns over 17 regular season games played against the pair of divisional rivals.

Wentz took part in the Commanders’ OTAs this past week, where he anchored passing drills with talents such as rookie wideout Jahan Dotson. Washington is set to hold its three-day mandatory minicamp in the coming days, which will then be followed up by its training camp schedule next month.
