Courtney Lee has finally spoken on his decision not to re-sign with the Charlotte Hornets once again during the summer. He revealed that even if he was constantly in communication with the franchise, he felt that he was only a second option for them and that he wasn't considered a priority.

The 31-year-old Western Kentucky product also discussed how the Hornets were “obsessed” with signing fellow swingman, Nicolas Batum and he did not want to wait long to secure his future.

“I was in contact with a lot of them but I wasn’t their No. 1 priority. Batum was. They were meeting with him and other opportunities knocked on my door for me and my family.’’

It turned out to be a good decision for Lee not to wait for Batum's decision and go with his instincts instead, signing immediately with the New York Knicks. His four-year, $50 million contract can be called a bargain considering how much teams splurged during free agency, but that was already enough for him and his family to bring his talents to The Big Apple.

Lee is still trying to find his stride with his new team and has appeared to struggle at times to contribute, but if he'll be able to speed up the process of his adjustments and transition, he'll be a vital piece to the Knicks as they work to once again become relevant in the Eastern Conference.
