In the wake of the horrific Texas school shooting that rocked the whole nation, Dallas Cowboys stars Dak Prescott and DeMarcus Lawrence expressed their fears for children going to school. After all, what was once thought to be a safe place for kids to learn has now become a massive target for people with violent and cruel intentions.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Prescott admitted that after witnessing what happened, it makes him “fearful” to have children.

“We’re talking about children, we're talking about the future. I don’t have kids and I can't imagine having to send my kid to school with that anxiety, honestly it makes me fearful to have children and that’s not right. That’s sad,” the Cowboys QB shared, per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

Meanwhile, Lawrence shared that he couldn't stop checking on with his wife about their kids following the incident. The Cowboys' defensive end has three children, and as a parent, he has all sorts of worries now that even going to school is not safe.

“If I don't feel safe sending my kids to school, I know other parents feel the same way. [In the locker room] I hit up my wife. ‘How are the kids? Are they home yet?’ It's something you wouldn't expect. But this is what we are dealing with,” Lawrence revealed, per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Both Dak Prescott and DeMarcus Lawrence have also called for a change in gun laws after the Texas tragedy that saw 19 children and two teachers die. No innocent life should be lost because of such violent acts, but the US government must do something and take action to prevent it from happening again.

“A lot needs to be done, and we are not doing anything. Our leaders are sitting back, collecting checks and watching things happen. I think we can get it done. It's going to take a collective effort,” Lawrence added.

Hopefully, authorities start to listen to the pleas of the people. It is not only Lawrence and the Cowboys who are seeking for change, as the whole sports world is one on its desire to use various platforms to make a positive impact and inspire action.
