The Dallas Cowboys made some key changes to the roster in preparation for their showdown with the New England Patriots on Sunday.

According to Cowboys PR, the team has waived offensive tackle Brandon Knight to make room for the signings of fullback Nick Ralston and tight end Jeremy Sprinkle to the active roster. Both Ralston and Sprinkle were part of Dallas' practice squad.

Brandon Knight started in nine games for the Cowboys last season as the team struggled with injuries. However, as they return to full health this 2021, he saw his role decrease as well. Throughout five weeks, the 24-year-old appeared in just three snaps for the squad.

Knight's dismissal also came amid reports that All-Pro offensive tackle Tyron Smith is expected to play for the Cowboys against Bill Belichick and Co. Smith found himself in the injury report earlier last Thursday due to some neck issues–the same injury that bothered him throughout 2020–though the MRI on him produced “favorable” results.

The Cowboys certainly need all the help they can get as they face the Patriots, especially with the status of cornerback Trevon Diggs still undetermined due to his right ankle injury.

Dak Prescott and Ezekie Elliott have led the way for the Cowboys so far, and they would certainly want to ride on their current four-game winning streak. To do that, however, Dallas knows they need all capable bodies they can get.
