Gerald McCoy has exuded his excitement to join the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and there's a particular reason why. With the Cowboys retaining most of their offense this offseason, McCoy is anxious to practice against the Cowboys offense. Said McCoy to USA Today‘s Jori Epstein:

“How are you ill-prepared on game day? … This is what you go against every day. I love competition. And I’m extremely excited to compete against those guys then bring it all together.”

When the new league year began, the Cowboys placed their franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott and re-signed receiver Amari Cooper. While they lost tight end Jason Witten in free agency, most of the offensive line they deployed in 2019, is intact for the 2020 season save for Travis Frederick, who retired.

Regardless of everyone's opinions on how Dallas performs in certain situations, they have a talented offense. With Prescott under center, the Cowboys also have Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, and Michael Gallup as their primary weapons. Not to mention an offensive line that still features Tyron Smith, Zack Martin and La'el Collins.

As for McCoy, he's always been one of the premier interior defenders since he came into the NFL in 2010. Just this past season, McCoy was able to notch five sacks and seven tackles for loss in his lone season with the Carolina Panthers.

Throughout his career, the former first-round pick has made the Pro Bowl six times and is a first-team All-Pro. Getting to face arguably the best offensive line in practice can be a daunting task for some. However, McCoy believes that iron sharpens iron and the opportunity will allow the defense to reach its potential in 2020.
