Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson was named among the finalist for the 2020 Hall of Fame class. While his time in Dallas may have come to an unceremonious end, both sides can now take solace in the fact that the efforts they made have now led to his enshrinement.

Johnson's fallout with team owner Jerry Jones despite winning two Super Bowls had been one of the biggest headlines at the time. According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, he does not regret his decision to part ways with Dallas:

“It was the right thing because I was ready to move on,” Johnson said. “I’ve never second guessed myself on the ending. For me, it was never a bad thing. I was happy to move on w/ my life.”

It is certainly encouraging to see that there were no regrets for Johnson. After all, he had helped build the team into a bonafide dynasty in the early 1990s and they used this blueprint to win their third Super Bowl just two seasons after his sudden departure.

Although Johnson and Jones did not end things on the best of terms, there is no question that they can attribute their inductions into the Hall of Fame to their mutual efforts in Dallas. As a result, they will be forever linked to each other for their success whether they like it or not.

Despite being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Jerry Jones still has yet to make Jimmy Johnson a part of the Cowboys “Ring go Honor” and it will be interesting to see whether or not that ever changes.
