In the last few weeks, there has been growing chatter around soon-to-be-inducted Hall of Famer Terrell Owens making the push toward a possible NFL comeback attempt. Owens fed into that chatter on Thursday taking to social media to state that he has a major announcement concerning a potential return.
The 44-year-old put all of the talk to bed on Friday as he announced via Twitter that he would be featured on the Hall of Fame edition of Madden 19 where he will be donning a Dallas Cowboys jersey.
This is a unique honor as a select few have received this opportunity to grace arguably the most popular sports video game in the world. Owens is certainly a deserving candidate having just been voted into the Hall of Fame as part of the 2018 class after putting together an illustrious 16-year career. Over that span, he earned six Pro Bowl selections, five First-Team All-Pro nods, and led the league in receiving touchdowns three times that he racked up playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.
He currently ranks second all-time with 15,934 receiving yards and his 153 receiving touchdowns rank third. Owens also holds all-time NFL records such as being the only player to have an 800-yard receiving season with five different teams. He is also tied with Hall of Famers Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice with 11 consecutive seasons with at least six receiving touchdowns. He is also tied with former tight end Tony Gonzalez with 15 straight years with at least 700 receiving yards.
All in all, this is a special honor that Owens now has to his name that further honors the talent that he was on the field throughout his career. Madden is set to hit the shelves on August 10 that will be available to play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
