Tua Tagovailoa recently stated that he wanted to play for the Dallas Cowboys, but now, the University of Alabama product is walking back those comments.

When pressed about his remarks at a press conference on Tuesday, Tagovailoa said his statement was taken out of context:

“You know, all I said is I'm a big Cowboys fan,” said Tagovailoa, via Jon Ledyard of Pewter Report. “I grew up a Cowboys fan my entire life. I understand that a lot of people have changed my words around and claimed that's the only team I wanted to go to. That's not true. I grew up a Cowboys fan. I have two dogs that are named Dallas and Star. Just to tell you how big of a Cowboys fan I was. I'd be grateful to be drafted by any team.”

This is pretty much a moot point regardless.

Tagovailoa is expected by most to be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft this spring, which basically eliminates any chance Dallas — which is picking 17th overall in the first round — has of taking him, barring a trade.

Not only that, but the Cowboys currently have Dak Prescott under center. Assuming Dallas can reach a deal with Prescott this offseason, he will be the Cowboys' signal-caller for the long haul.

And Tagovailoa is right: all he really did was say he would love to play for Dallas. He never said he wouldn't want to play for anyone else, so this is really much ado about nothing.
