The Dallas Cowboys made a splash with the acquisition of former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper. It appears they may be hoping to imitate what the Kansas City Chiefs have started to build.

It is no secret that the Cowboys offense has been nothing short of abysmal in the 2018 NFL season. According to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, wide receiver coach Sanjay Lal is glad Dallas is taking a page out of Kansas City's book:

“It sure can't hurt. The more weapons you have, look at Kansas City. They don't know how to defend them. Sammy will kill you, Tyreek will kill you, [Hunt & Kelce] will kill you. How do u defend it?”

There is no denying that the Cowboys have a long way to go before even hoping to mimic the Chiefs. However, they certainly got off to a solid start with the acquisition of Cooper. Of course, they are still about three bonafide weapons away from emulating what Kansas City has.

The Chiefs boast one of the most high-powered offenses in the NFL. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has flourished with the arsenal of playmakers at his disposal. Mahomes has two of the best players at their positions in wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, wide receiver Sammy Watkins is more than capable of making defenses pay in single coverage.

Dallas has taken some flak for giving up a first-rounder for Cooper. However, they could very well come out on top if he is able to become a safety net for quarterback Dak Prescott. Either way, it will give them a good idea of any potential changes they may need to make under center.
