Every basketball fan out there knows Craig Sager for the eccentric and colorful suits he wears as a sideline reporter for TNT and TBS. But, as expressed in a USA Today article profiling Sager, the man Craig Sager himself is far more interesting than the flashy and eye-catching wardrobe he has become so famous for wearing on air.

Sager has lived a life filled with so many unique experiences, that Dos Equis' may want to consider him to be the brand's heir apparent to The Most Interesting Man in the World.

He attended Northwestern University and served as the school's mascot, Willie the Wildcat, during his time there. After graduating in 1973, he landed his first job in TV as a weatherman. To the job interview, he naturally wore a vibrant blue, white, and yellow suit he had picked up from the local Goodwill. His unique professional attire has stuck with him to this day.

At the young age of 23, Sager was the first reporter to interview Hank Aaron as he crossed third base and headed to touch home plate after breaking Babe Ruth‘s home run record in 1974.

The night before the Belmont Stakes in 1977,  with “no place to stay, and no money for a hotel,” he utilized the help of a friend who cleaned barn stalls and spent the night in the stall next to the horse that would go on to earn the Triple Crown the next day, Seattle Slew. From that night, he collected quite the unique piece of memorabilia he has now lacquered and displays in his basement trophy collection, Seattle Slew's manure.

In the days leading up to the 1979 NCAA Final Four, Sager landed an exclusive interview with Larry Bird for a local Fort Myers, Florida television station he was working for at the time. NBC, who then owned the TV rights to NCAA Basketball, was not happy about this and ultimately revoked his media credentials for the event. Again utilizing the help of a friend who happened to be an Assistant Coach for Indiana State at the time, Sager secured a bench pass for the game. He was sitting on the team bench for Larry Bird's Indiana State squad during their NCAA Final Four Game until getting recognized and kicked off the bench later in the game by NCAA officials.

He has run with the bulls in Pamplona, and claims to have been to over 250 Hooters bars. Craig Sager is much more than the man with the flamboyant suits who does sideline reporting for TNT and TBS. He lives his life to the fullest, and his unique life experiences prove as such.
