The Chicago Cubs have signaled an end of an era following their flurry of trade deadline moves, which included sending Kris Bryant to the San Francisco Giants.

After deciding to trade away longtime stars Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez, the Cubs elected to trade Bryant to the Giants in exchange for prospects Caleb Kilian and Alexander Canario.

Yesterday, cameras caught Bryant soaking in what was presumed to be his last game in a Cubs uniform at Wrigley Field.

Today, reality sunk in as news broke that Bryant will be heading to the NL West leaders.

Bryant was at National Park ahead of Chicago's series opener against the Washington Nationals. Again, cameras caught Bryant full of emotion as he learned that his time in Chicago has now officially come to an end.

Bryant ended his seven-season run with the Cubs as one of their more influential players in recent years. The star outfielder lived up to the high expectations from the get-go, as he won an NL MVP Award and also was selected to four All-Star Games. More, he etched his name in Cubs history when he helped record the final out in the team's historic 2016 World Series Game 7 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Now, Bryant joins a Giants team that is among the early favorites to win the World Series. The team's acquisition of the former Cubs star is a clear response to the blockbuster moves that NL West rivals Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres both made over the past 24 hours.

In the big picture, Cubs fans will have the opportunity to soon see Kris Bryant back at Wrigley Field when Chicago hosts the Giants for a three-game series in mid-September. Bryant may be full of emotion again when he returns to a place where he made his name in baseball.
