It's a good day in the city of Boston as the Boston Celtics finally put their money where their mouths are and extended swingman Jayston Tatum with a huge 5-year max deal worth $195 million. With the way things stand, the Celtics will be moving forward with both Tatum and teammate Jaylen Brown leading the pack. Brown signed his 4-year extension with the team last year.

After the monumental deal, Celtics GM Danny Ainge had a simple message to their young franchise player:

“Stay humble, stay grateful, stay hungry. Let your light so shine.” Ainge replied to Tatum on Twitter

It would've been hard to imagine Ainge not betting on Tatum after what he's displayed so far in just three seasons in Boston. Last year, Tatum was named as an All-Star for the first time in his career after leading the team with an average of 23.4 points per game and even added seven rebounds per contest.

The 22-year old has grown in leaps and bounds and is poised to be a bonafide superstar for years to come.

With the C's now securing their two stars, it should be easier for Ainge and the rest of the Celtics front office to move forward and build around their young core. They've already moved on from Gordon Hayward who opted out of his player option and is on his way to the Charlotte Hornets.

Even with Gordon out, they still have a three-headed monster in Tatum, Brown and starting point guard Kemba Walker – a trio that help lead Boston all the way to the ECF against the Miami Heat.
