Darius Miles’ story is another one of those extra-talented young players who failed to reach their potential.

Drafted third overall in 2000 by the L.A. Clippers, the athletic forward’s career was marred by bad decisions and immaturity.

Unfortunately, it’s gotten worse for Miles who is reported to be bankrupt at 34-years-old, according to Beth Hundsdorfer and George Pawlaczyk of the Bellevue News-Democrat.

But injuries, legal problems and bad investments have left Miles asking the court to allow him to sell off his assets to pay creditors. Miles listed $460,385 in assets and $1.57 million in liabilities.

Miles and his bankruptcy attorney, Robert Eggmann, declined to comment when contacted this week.

Darius Miles, for all his talent and potential, played only seven years in the league. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks after playing for the Clippers, Cavaliers, Trail Blazers, and Grizzlies.

His biggest contract with Portland was worth $48 million.
