The Utah Jazz received some bad news after finding out that their power forward, Derrick Favors, will miss their game on Thursday against the Chicago Bulls and possibly a few more after that.
The 25-year-old Georgia Tech product has been suffering from knee soreness that has given him a lot of discomfort over the past weeks. An MRI revealed a bone bruise called an IT Band Syndrome but showed no structural damage to it.
He has yet to release a statement or address the media about his injury, but his agent, Wallace Prather, talked about his client's condition and how he feels about it.
“It's very frustrating to Derrick. Right now, this is limiting him to 20 minutes a game, and we need to find a way to get this taken care of so that he can get back to playing 30 minutes a night and playing like himself.”
Favors has played 11 games so far this season and has contributed solid numbers to his team with averages of 10.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and a block in only 24.0 minutes per game.
Boris Diaw is expected to see some minutes at the power forward spot as the team is also missing the services of another big man in Trey Lyles.
