Rest has been one of the more highlighted words this year when it comes to the grind of the NBA season. Players who are not voted into events during All-Star Weekend take the time to relax and even go on mini vacations to unwind.

Starting this year, players are allowed to vote on who they think should be the participants in the All-Star festivities. Even if that means a player casting a ballot for himself, he's free to do so.

In the case for New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose, who is having a strong season, he says he will vote for himself this February, but would prefer to rest rather than participate in the events.

Rose hasn't played in an All-Star game since 2012, and he says he's not worried about being snubbed.

He also says it's an honor to be chosen but a selection doesn't define his career.

“To tell you the truth, no. Don't get me wrong, being on the All-Star team is a great accolade but whether or not I'm an All-Star game doesn't take away from my game. Like I'm not going to be upset. I'll be happy for my teammates if whoever makes it, makes it. But for me, after not being in there the last three or four years, I'll take the week off. I'll love that week off. I'm just being honest.”

Chances are he will get his wish to rest as he will likely be outvoted in favor of other players.
