Newly-acquired L.A. Clippers center Willie Reed became part of a lot of headlines on early Sunday morning when news surfaced about his arrest, stemming from domestic violence charges.

Although it was reported that the arrest was made in Miami-Dade County, and that he was inside jail until 7:30 a.m., not a lot of information outside of it has emerged yet.

However, Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel recently made a piece, which included details of the battery and what transpired between Reed and his wife inside their home.

“According to the arrest report, Reed grew upset after his wife told him that she wanted a divorce, with an argument following on the balcony of the condo. A struggle then ensued, when Reed’s wife took her purse and her husband attempted to take it away….”

“Reed’s wife said she was knocked to the ground while attempting to take her purse. Jasmine Reed said Willie Reed also grabbed her by the shirt, hair, wrist and arm. She said she then struck her husband with a glass candle.”

“According to the arrest report, Jasmine Reed, “had red marks on her left wrist, right bicep, the right side of her chest and her back and swelling on her left foot.”

To get the side of the 7-foot center, Brodrick Turner of the Los Angeles Times immediately contacted Reed's lawyer.

“Reed told police that he never put his hands on his wife, but he did acknowledge grabbing her shirt and her purse, according to the police report, which also said Reed's wife had red marks on her left wrist, right biceps, back and chest.”

“Reed’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, added that, “Willie will continue to cooperate with the authorities, the Clippers, and with the league so that they have all of the facts regarding this misdemeanor allegation.”

The Clippers have released a statement about the incident, letting everyone know that they are aware of it. They also made it clear that they are willing to place Reed on some counseling sessions, should he be proven guilty of the charges, as per the NBA’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement, to prevent future occurrences.

For now, the team is waiting for all details to be confirmed before they decide on what actions to take for their backup center.
