DieHardBirdie, the world's oldest CS:GO World Champion, has issued a challenge on Japan's Matagi Snipers, on behalf of his newly-formed team, the Golden Snipers.

The challenge, should Matagi Snipers accept, will be held in the Summer of 2022 at DreamHack Dallas 2022. In the case that the showmatch pushes through, it will be a historical moment where professional competitors will show how age does not put a stop to one's competitive edge and ability to enjoy video games.

“We’re both honored and excited to extend this challenge to compete against the highly adept Matagi Snipers,” says Golden Snipers Team Captain Abbe “DieHardBirdie” Borg. “Facing off against the best in the world is what drives me, but for the team, it’s about much more than winning; we are aiming to prove that age does not affect skill level. You just have to have the guts to play.”

The showmatch is the brainchild of Original Gamer Life (OGLife), who recently signed DieHardBirdie and initiated tryouts for the new members of the Golden Snipers.

“It’s all in good fun, and we’re eager to take on the Matagi Snipers in a worthy battle,” says Original Gamer Life CEO Brandon Sivret. ”OGLife strives to encourage improved socialization with undersupported gaming demographics, and a featured match between the Golden Snipers and Matagi Snipers will showcase the level of greatness that’s achievable when people with shared visions come together.”

Both the Matagi Snipers and the Golden Snipers are composed of veteran gamers aged 60 and above. Both organizations aim to inspire senior gamers into believing in their capabilities and showing how age should not be a barrier for people to enjoy what they want to enjoy in life, including video games.
