For the first time since getting traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the offseason, Freddie Freeman returned to Atlanta on Friday to accept his World Series ring with the Braves. By no surprise, it got emotional.
Freeman couldn't help but tear up when the Braves honored him with an awesome tribute video.
The Dodgers star made his mark in Atlanta, playing the first 12 seasons of his big league career with the organization before departing in the winter. He's a huge reason they won the Fall Classic in 2021 and Freeman is arguably the most loved player in franchise history. You can just see how much the fans adore him, even though Freeman is now playing for a National League rival.
Freeman is doing what he does best in LA. After a slow start, the veteran is hitting .303 with eight home runs and 45 RBI in 68 games. The power numbers might be slightly down, but Freeman is still hitting for average and playing flawless defense at first base for the Dodgers.
It's a shame he couldn't stay in Atlanta, especially after finally winning a ring for the organization. Nevertheless, it's nothing but love between the two sides and that will never, ever change. The Dodgers will play a three-game set at Sun Truist Park through the weekend.
