Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts exited Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins with an apparent injury. He was seen leaving the stadium on crutches following the affair. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided an injury update on Betts Friday, via MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.

“Today he's going to get a CT scan later this afternoon here locally in DC,” Roberts said prior to the Dodgers series versus the Washington Nationals. “That should be even more telling, give us a little bit more information. He's really sore, so my expectation is that he's down for the weekend series here in DC. He'll be ready to go on Monday. So that's my hope, our expectation, but again we gotta kind of see how that CT plays out.”

Betts fouled a pitch off his foot which led to the injury. He didn't initially leave the game after the incident occurred, but later exited due to the pain apparently.

Dodgers: Mookie Betts injury update

Mookie Betts is in the midst of an MVP-caliber 2023 season. The Dodgers hold a comfortable lead in the National League West as well. As long as Betts is ready for the playoffs, the team will be okay. That said, LA still has an outside shot of overtaking the Atlanta Braves for the best record in MLB. So Betts' expected return after the Nationals series is important.

As Roberts stated though, the Dodgers will need to find out the results of the CT scan before providing a strict timeline for his return.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Mookie Betts' injury status as they are made available.
