George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa, is here, but should fans stick around for the credits for a post-credits scene? Does it set up any more films with Anya Taylor-Joy?

What is Furiosa about?

Furiosa is the fifth installment in the Mad Max series. Miller co-wrote the script with Nico Lathouris and directed the film himself. Anya Taylor-Joy stars in the title role (as well as Alyla Browne, who plays a younger version of the character).

Chris Hemsworth plays Dementus, the leader of the Biker Horde who abducted Furiosa when she was young. Years later, after hiding out in the Citadel, she seeks revenge for him killing her mom.

Spoiler alert: She does, in fact, avenge her mother's death. She then gets promoted by Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme), the leader of the Citadel. The film ends with her stowing Joe's wives away for a supply run.

Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, Nathan Jones, and Josh Helman also star in the film.

Mad Max: Fury Road

Furiosa is a direct prequel to Miller's 2015 film, Fury Road. In that film, Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron starred as Max and Furiosa, respectively. Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Zoë Kravitz, and Hugh Keays-Byrne also starred in the film.

It was a moderate success, grossing nearly $380 million on a budget of $150 million. Fury Road had a tall task ahead as it was supposed to bring back the Mad Max series after nearly three decades away. Beyond Thunderdome was released in 1985.

George Miller co-created the Mad Max franchise with Byron Kennedy. Miller has also directed all five films in the franchise (he co-directed Beyond Thunderdome with George Ogilvie).

Is there anything in the credits?

These days, the MCU and other blockbuster franchises have conditioned fans into sitting through the credits. It's an admirable thing to do, as the crew rarely gets love. However, fans usually expect a scene or two that tease what is still to come in the franchise.

In the MCU's case, they use mid and post-credits scenes like advertisements for their upcoming projects. They generally lead directly into another project whether it's a film or TV series.

While it may be tempting to stay through the credits of Furiosa, there isn't any need to as it doesn't have a mid or post-credits scene. Fans of the Mad Max series shouldn't be too surprised — Fury Road didn't have anything in the credits, either.

When the credits do begin, Furiosa does show flashes of Fury Road. It is almost as if it's a recap of the film for those who wish to watch the prequel right before it.

But otherwise, there isn't anything worth staying for outside of recognizing the below-the-line talent.

Furiosa will be released on May 24.
