Restricted free agent Donatas Motiejunas is still far apart in contract negotiations with the Houston Rockets, and training camp is just two weeks away.

The Rockets have extended a $3.4 million qualifying offer to Motiejunas, but he has yet to accept it after an attempt to trade him to the Detroit Pistons prior to February's deadline dissolved when he failed the team's medical tests.

His agent BJ Armstrong told the Houston Chronicle that he believes the Rockets are milking the situation to avoid paying Motiejunas more money.

The Rockets are using the rules of restricted free agency to their advantage instead of focusing on what I would hope is the only thing that I would think is important to everybody, which is winning games.

I hope with coach (Mike) D'Antoni and the staff that they want to put the best team on the court to help the organization win games. If that's the case, let's get past the restricted free agency and the rules and put the best players on the floor to help him win basketball games.

Armstrong also believes the Rockets aren't valuing Motiejunas, even though GM Daryl Morey has asked him to name an offer, which he feels would be leverage against himself.

Motiejunas played in 37 games last season averaging 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds, and is currently recovering from offseason back surgery.
