Former The International champion Peter “ppd” Dager announced his return to the competitive Dota 2 scene. The American Support and Captain just couldn't stay away from the top stage of Dota. He returns to the reformed Sadboys lineup alongside fellow-TI champion Clinton “Fear” Loomis.

Taking a step back

ppd willingly entered retirement in April 2020. He made the decision to focus on personal growth over competing with the world's best players. Players often retire once they reach a certain age or when they've felt like they could use a break. Professional players can't play forever so the retirement was bitter but expected. ppd looked towards streaming in his retirement but it soon proved to be insufficient for the legendary player. He had this to say regarding his experiences as a streamer.

“However, I think it’s safe to say this isn’t what I’m most passionate about and now I realize that competition is the thing that inspires me to be the best version of myself. After three months of this, I’ve decided that I need to change my focus yet again.”

Now, the legendary Dota player has rescinded his retirement to fight with the best players of Dota once more. Subsequently, ppd explained the details of his return in a blog post. Meanwhile, fans of the former TI champion celebrate his comeback as it would mean more playtime from the great player.

Taking a step back, back

The Sadboys organization was initially formed in 2014 with Fear and ppd before they were picked up by Evil Geniuses. Now, the team has been reformed with several veteran Dota players looking to take the NA scene by storm.

Sadboys Roster

  1. Clinton “Fear” Loomis
  2. David “dnm” Cassio
  3. David “Moo” Hull
  4. Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu
  5. Peter “ppd” Dager

Unlike other esports titles, Dota 2 players stay at a competitive level for a long time. For instance, ppd played for multiple years but he is still one of the game's best players.  The legendary Captain expressed his gratitude towards his teammates as he makes his return.

The North American DPC regional league starts on January 18, 2021. In addition, many organizations allegedly reached out to the team with offers of support for the legendary Dota players.
