This season, several quarterbacks that are getting up there in age have had really impressive years. Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger have all had years where they will lead their teams to the playoffs.

On the Locked On Podcast Network’s daily NFL podcast, Peacock and Williamson, Williamson points out why we may see some of these quarterbacks fall off at this time of the year.

Williamson: I do not want to dwell on this too much, but something I always bring up when we talk about these old quarterbacks, Drew Brees and Tom Brady really come to mind last year, that it is not that they cannot make throws anymore. Yeah, their skills diminish, but one thing that I always harp on with these old guys is that late in the season, they look old. Rigors of the year catch up to them and the cold and the playoff team defenses, all the hits have not been hit that much but it is just wear and tear on old people’s bodies. And I was thinking about the Steelers in a Saints/Brees like manner because Brees has not really thrown the ball well for two years and they still win a ton of games, but Brees is better cerebrally. He is better mentally and at processing, although Ben has gotten better at that, he is more accurate with the close stuff and he gets more help from his coaching staff with the scheme. He has Alvin Kamara. If the Steelers had Alvin Kamara, it would be different, but it is not like those guys grow on trees.
