What was supposed to be a memorable moment for Coach K and the Blue Devils faithful became a memory they'd rather forget. In what shapes up to be Mike Krzyzewski's final home game, Duke University lost to old-time rivals University of North Carolina 94 – 81. It was not the send-off fans were hoping to give their team.

After the loss, Coach K addressed the Duke crowd in attendance. The legendary collegiate coach apologized for the team's performance, calling it “unacceptable”. However, he immediately pointed out that the season in general has been acceptable. (via Jeff Goodman)

Leading up to the big March tournament, Duke has been on fire to the season. They entered their contest against UNC sporting a 26 – 4 record, as they've won comfortably many times. However, against their age-old rivals, the Blue Devils were underwhelming, getting outclassed by the Tar Heels all game long.

Coach K's final home game for Duke has been a much-anticipated event in college basketball circles. Many fans likened this event to Derek Jeter's final home appearance for the New York Yankees. It's easy to see why: Krzyzewski is the winningest college coach of all-time, bringing glory to the university for a long time. His run with the Team USA squad is just the icing on top on his legendary cake.

This won't be Krzyzewski's final game with Duke just yet: Coach K will still lead his team to the March Madness tournament coming up soon. Fans and pundits will follow the Devils closely to see whether Coach K can get one more trophy for the university again.
