With this year’s draft happening on Thursday night, many players in the league, as well as teams, are looking forward to it and finding out which young talents will be selected. One of them is Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade, who shared how he felt back in 2003 when he was inside the green room and hoping for his name to be called.
The 35-year-old posted a video via Uninterrupted, where he gave advice to the rookies about enjoying the moment and spending it with their loved ones. He then added that he can’t wait to stay tuned for the event, and also compete with the new players next season.
Wade is currently in Italy, having a vacation with his family, but still took time to offer some good words for the hopefuls. He understands it’s something that could help them feel at ease, as they are expected to be nervous and anxious with the draft only moments away.
The Marquette product was the fifth overall pick 14 years ago in what’s considered as one of the deepest pools of talent in draft history. LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh are some of the biggest names that were also part of it, and had very successful careers as professionals. This year’s group of players are also being thought of as a batch that could rival 2003’s, and it’s very interesting to find out how they will perform in the NBA, which would determine if the 2017 class is worthy to being compared to them.
