Free-agent running back Darren Sproles has not yet made a decision on whether or not he plans to play in the NFL this coming season, but if he does decide to return, the Philadelphia Eagles seem ready to welcome him back.

According to Eagles insider Dave Spadaro, Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson says that he has not ruled out the possibility of Sproles returning for 2019, stating that he has not yet heard from the versatile halfback.

Sproles played in just six games this past season due to a nagging hamstring injury. During the time he was on the field, he rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown while catching 15 passes for 160 yards and a couple of scores.

The 35-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Kansas State University, was originally selected by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round (130th pick overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

He spent the first six years of his career with the Chargers, serving as a lethal weapon out of the backfield in both the ground game and the aerial attack. He also served as a top-flight kick returner.

However, Sproles did not really break out until he arrived with the New Orleans Saints in 2011, when he registered 603 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground while hauling in 86 receptions for 710 yards and seven scores.

He went on to spend three years with the Saints before joining the Eagles in 2014, making the Pro Bowl in each of his first three years with the club mainly due to his prowess on special teams.

However, Sproles has played in just nine games over the last two years due to injury issues.
