Adam Schefter of ESPN has announced that Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat will not play on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Eagles star defender underwent an emergency procedure on Tuesday due to an abdominal issue. It is reported that this situation was a life-threatening issue, and for him to almost be able to come back, shows just how tough he is.

It is an important loss for this Eagles team but at the end of the day, it is a blessing that he is still alive and was able to have a successful surgery.

According to Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni,

“Josh improved every day but it was determined by the doctors today that he was not quite ready. The fact that Josh came so close to playing is a credit to his toughness and our medical staff.”

This is going to be a tough game for Philadelphia to win but they have had success in the past against Tom Brady in the playoffs. If Philadelphia can find a way to get stops, they will have a good chance of potentially winning this game.

Not having one of their best defensive players isn't going to help this team as Josh Sweat was currently having a great season that saw him with 7.5 sacks.

Philadelphia is going to need somebody else to pick up the responsibility if they want a chance to pull off the upset.
