It has been an odd run for Carson Wentz as Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.

He had a breakout season in 2017, but he suffered a torn ACL in Week 14 of that year and ended up missing the rest of the year. Most had the Eagles left for dead, as they had just lost their MVP-caliber signal-caller, but what ended up happening shocked everyone, as Nick Foles stepped in and led Philadelphia to its first-ever Super Bowl title.

Then, last year, Wentz played in 11 games before bowing out with a back injury. Once again, Foles took over under center and took the Eagles to a rather surprising playoff appearance and then led the team to an upset win over the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round.

However, with Foles' contract up this offseason, Philly let him go, opting to roll with the younger—and seemingly more talented—Wentz as its quarterback of the future.

The Eagles' decision was certainly understandable, but former Birds signal-caller Donovan McNabb feels that such a decision puts a whole lot of pressure on Wentz to produce, and quickly:

“I think in the next . . . two years or so he has to find a way to get . . . out of the second round of the playoffs,” McNabb told Zach Gelb of CBS Sports Radio.

McNabb even went as far to say that if Wentz does not achieve that feat, the Eagles should then consider their options at quarterback, because Foles proved that some people can get into that offense and be very successful.”

He also questioned Wentz's durability:

“If [Wentz] can’t get out of the second round they should look to possibly draft another quarterback because you just don’t know about his durability,” McNabb said. “Staying healthy is very key in this league.”

And if Foles succeeds with the Jacksonville Jaguars, it will make things even tougher for Wentz.
