Calvin Ridley's season-long suspension shook the NFL world to its core. However, it sounds like multiple teams showed interest in the Atlanta Falcons' star receiver. As of now, there are rumors regarding the Philadelphia Eagles as being one of those franchises that nearly made the move to acquire Ridley.
According to Jay Glazer, the Falcons backed out of a trade that would have sent Calvin Ridley to the Eagles. At the time, it was a confusing situation for Philadelphia, as it sounds like the front made a legitimate offer. However, considering Atlanta was fully aware of the suspension they decided to walk away from a deal that could have benefited them greatly.

Shoutout to the Falcons for not trading Ridley away just for that team to deal with his suspension. Atlanta likely would have ruffled some feathers had they sent him away to the Eagles. Instead, the franchise saved grace and maintained a working relationship with Philadelphia.
As for the Eagles, they dodged some bullets in this situation. Calvin Ridley has proven to be a reliable pass option when he's on the field, which means they could have been giving up some major assets to acquire him. Instead, the front office can focus elsewhere after the Falcons handled the situation professionally.
Who knows what's in store for Ridley. The likely outcome is he sits out an entire season before being reinstated in 2023. However, he walked away from football midseason due to mental health concerns, creating skepticism if Calvin Ridley returns or not. As for the Eagles, they aim to acquire a star receiver, which could be the missing link for them to dominate the NFC East.
