When a team starts a season as horrible as the Atlanta Falcons' 1-7 start, there are multiple approaches a team can make to turn the season for the better. However, Dan Quinn believes that the best move for his team is to treat the last eight games of the season as a brand-new season.
The head coach cannot hide the fact that their first eight games of the season were a disappointing mess. By refreshing the team's take on the season after a much-needed bye week, he's giving them a chance to win more chances to win their remaining games of the season.
Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter:
“Really for us, this is our new season,” Quinn said Wednesday.
“I told everybody if we have a chance to elevate in every space that we do (things), we’re going to try for it,” Quinn said. “Players, coaches, the whole thing. It’s going to take a lot of energy and discipline to do that, but we’ve got plenty to work on. This Sunday, we are looking to how we want to play. We are going to focus on that as much as we can. Let’s get it right.”
Not much is expected out of the Falcons' remaining games of the season. However, it would be a resounding success for them if they manage to replicate their 7-9 record last season.
Doing that won't be easy as they're going to face tough opposition in the coming weeks. They're going to start the second half of their season against the New Orleans Saints. Other notable games in their calendar include the San Francisco 49ers and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
