The Atlanta Falcons took former Texas running back Bijan Robinson in the 2023 NFL Draft in hopes of making him a feature back, a tall task for a runner with exceptional talent and speed running behind an offense that has been overmatched for several years running, since QB Matt Ryan officially retired.

The Falcons have big plans for Robinson now that Kirk Cousins is in the ATL, along with Michael Penix Jr. of Washington and rising coaching star Raheem Morris.

Atlanta revealed their plans for Robinson recently amid the announcement of three underrated players who could have a breakout season. Three Falcons whose positions could be swiped by rookies were also put on notice.

Morris and Robinson have big plans for the 2024-2025 season, and now they are being revealed for the entire football world to see with training camp still months away.

The Falcons plan to utilize Bijan Robinson to the fullest extent, according to a report from Fox Sports published Wednesday.

Robinson's possible role in the ATL is being compared to Christian McCaffrey's with the San Francisco 49ers, and it should excite Falcons fans who've been clamoring for more action for the former Longhorn.

“…It's like run first, like I did in college,” Robinson said during the final week of OTA workouts. “But still having that access to do creative things things out of the backfield, more so like how they use Christian (McCaffrey) down there in San Francisco, something like that.

“So that's kind of what the plan is here.”

Morris Expounds On Robinson's Role in Dirty Birds' Offense

Morris had a lot to say about Bijan Robinson's potentially increased role in the Falcons' offensive scheme.

“In the simplest form that you can make it, it's get the ball to Bijan as much as you can, in as many ideal situations that you possibly can,” Morris said. “For him, he's so talented, you don't want to limit the things he can do. But you also don't want to water it down so much that he's not doing anything that he can do great.

Robinson, 22, had 976 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Falcons last year. He is capable of much more if Atlanta can get him the ball in his spots with a head of steam and moving in the right direction.

“When you get the ball in his hands, he makes people miss,” Morris continued. “He gets extra yards. He breaks tackles. He's fast. He's explosive. He's strong.”
