The revelation came to light after a recent leak on Reddit's r/gamingnews showed Pierre Boudreau, Ubisoft's senior writer, briefly altering his LinkedIn cover photo. The image, though partially cut off, showcased what many believe to be the lead character of the forthcoming title – a female assassin brandishing a katana. Behind her, a vibrant red hue illuminated both the Japanese version of the Assassin's Creed emblem and an iconic pagoda.

The recent inadvertent leak regarding Assassin's Creed Red has once again placed the gaming community in a state of heightened anticipation. This is not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has experienced pre-release leaks. Historically, titles such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Origins, Mirage, and Unity also encountered unofficial revelations before their formal announcements.

Ubisoft officially heralded Assassin's Creed Red in September 2022, hailing it as their “next premium flagship title and the future of our open-world RPG games.” Set against the backdrop of feudal Japan, the leaked snapshot harmonizes with the title's historical and cultural milieu, capturing an assassin adeptly moving across rooftops, silhouetted against a mesmerizing twilight.
Reports suggest that the game would be hitting the shelves in 2024. If this release timeframe holds, Ubisoft might be aiming for a holiday release, similar to its previous launch strategy with Mirage in October 2023. Notably, Mirage had its full details leaked and was officially announced in September of this year.
