Antoine Walker used to be the Boston Celtics’ future. But as things turned out, the former All-Star forward ended up in a situation he least expected after retirement.

Selected 6th overall in the fabled 1996 NBA draft, Walker’s performance peaked in the 2000-2001 season where he averaged 23.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.7 steals, and a couple of threes per ballgame. But after his initial Celtics stint, Walker’s career has been marred by inconsistency through his next five stops – which included a return to Boston.

Despite that, he still amassed over $108 million through the course of his NBA career. Unfortunately for him, just two years after retirement, Walker was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2010.

A former teammate of his in Gary Payton recently had an interview with Phil Thompson of the Chicago Tribune, and the Hall of Fame point guard attested to Walker’s rebound in life.

“He's doing a lot of things with a lot of companies trying to go around (and) tell his story. He made a mistake and he realized it after everything was gone and he's trying to prevent other people from doing the same thing.”

The two famously teamed up in Miami where they won their lone championship. In the interview, Gary Payton talked about his wise financial dealings. On the other hand, Antoine Walker currently works as a sports analyst.
