The New York Giants are expected to start the 2019 season the same way they have been for years, with Eli Manning at quarterback.

The 38-year-old quarterback once was a no doubt starting option, but that is no longer the case.

However, it seems like Manning is the planned starter for next season as of now, per Jordan Raanan or ESPN.

All indications are it's heading in that direction. Manning has been in the building working out since season's end. Surely there has been some communication with Gettleman, and several people close to the quarterback have received no indication Manning's time with the Giants is about to end.

The Giants are scouring the draft for his eventual successor, but the belief in league circles is that they saw enough in the second half of this past season to roll it back one more time.

Manning has one season left on his contract, but his future is far from a sure thing. It is a case where the Giants might be bringing in their next quarterback, and still having to find a spot for Manning.

As of right now, Manning would be the starter for the Giants, but that could change if a move is made to bring someone else in. New York picks sixth in the upcoming draft, so they have a good shot at getting one of the top quarterbacks. The two names mentioned by Raanan are Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins.

Other options are making themselves more apparent as time goes on. A rumored fit is Philadelphia Eagles backup Nick Foles, who is looking for a starting job in 2019. Should he leave, the Giants are a favorite to sign him.

Perhaps the more intriguing option is Denver Broncos' quarterback Case Keenum. With Joe Flacco going to Denver, they will likely try to move on. The season that earned Keenum his big contract came largely due to his offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, Pat Shurmur.

These moves will be very telling as to what will happen with Manning's future.

He might retire if his starting job is not there, but only time will tell.
