The New York Giants have won the Nate Solder sweepstakes. They are expected to sign the former New England Patriots left tackle, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport also reports that Solder’s deal will be for four years and worth up to $62 million, with $35 million guaranteed. His average salary of $15.5 million makes him the highest-paid left tackle in the NFL per Spotrac.

Solder’s addition will be huge for the Giants, who are in desperate need of help along their offensive line. They recently missed out on one of their top targets in Andrew Norwell, who went to the Jaguars, and also lost starting center Weston Richburg to the 49ers.

Solder will likely replace Ereck Flowers on Eli Manning’s blindside. Flowers, a former top-10 overall pick, has not lived up to that lofty draft status for the Giants in his four years with the team.

While Solder has never been selected to a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team, he has been one of the more solid and consistent left tackles in the league over the course of his career. The fact that he was by far the best left tackle on the free-agent market this offseason helped jack up his price.

A former first-round pick by the Patriots in 2011, Solder now leaves New England after seven very successful seasons with the team. He went to four Super Bowls with them in those seven seasons, winning two and losing two. One of those losses was against the Giants during his rookie year in 2011.

Solder becomes the latest in a growing list of key free agents to leave New England this offseason following Danny Amendola, Dion Lewis, and Malcolm Butler.
