New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones impressed a lot of people on Thursday night. In his lone drive, Jones completed all five of his passes for 65 yards and a score. His performance quickly caught the eye of Skip Bayless.

You know Jones had to be incredibly impressive to receive praise from Bayless, a notorious Dallas Cowboys supporter. Almost everyone expected the number six overall pick to crash and burn after he was labelled as one of the worst picks in the draft. But Jones came out and looked the best out of any rookie quarterback. The division rival Washington Redskins took Dwayne Haskins with the 14th selection, and he promptly threw two interceptions.  Yes, Jones was playing in a preseason game, and yes, it was against the backups of the New York Jets, but the showing is still a good sign for him.

Incumbent starter Eli Manning started the preseason game, but only threw one pass, which was completed for three yards. New York fans are notoriously vicious, and if Jones continues to play well, it won't be long before the fans want him starting. Head coach Pat Shurmur has already said there's no competition, but that could change quickly. Despite being a career Giant and two-time champion, Manning's play has declined over the last few years. To be fair, it isn't totally his fault. For the last two years, Manning has been stuck with some of the weakest rosters in football. It seems like a recipe for disaster to throw Daniel Jones in the same situation.
