The New York Giants are coming off a 3-win season after many pegged them a legitimate playoff team in the NFC. Injuries ripped through the team's roster with superstar wideout Odell Beckham Jr. among the players that missed the majority of the 2017 campaign.

During the NFL offseason thus far, the Giants have already made a few moves including bringing in Pat Shurmur as their new head coach. Shurmur has his hands full with a difficult decision ahead as the team possesses the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Speculation has been running rampant about the team's plans with bringing in a rookie quarterback seemingly being the path they'd take, but now that might not be the case, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

After listening to the Giants brass speak and talking to people around the league, the pendulum is swinging away from them taking a quarterback. Coach Pat Shurmur talked about landing a franchise-changing player Wednesday and mentioned Lawrence Taylor and Carl Banks. It seemed they were setting the stage to go in another direction if their quarterback of preference was not available.

With a number of talented quarterbacks expected to be taken in the first round of the draft like Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, and Baker Mayfield, the Giants have some intriguing options at the position. The Cleveland Browns are also expected to take a quarterback at No. 1 with Darnold potentially being the first one off the board.

However, New York could be shifting gears, especially after running Saquon Barkley turned so many heads during the NFL Scouting Combine, via Raanan.

The possibility the Giants will draft Penn State running back Saquon Barkley or Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson is even greater now than last week.

As it always tends to happen in the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, it remains uncertain how things will pan out on draft day in terms where quarterbacks might land. There's a decent chance two or three quarterbacks could be taken in the first 10 picks with the Giants being a candidate to do so in order to secure the future behind veteran Eli Manning.

At this point, the Giants have their fair share options and might not go wrong with picking Barkley or a quarterback like Rosen or Mayfield. It remains to be seen how it will all go down, but there's definitely some intrigue at No. 2 with New York decides what they want to do moving forward following a forgettable 2017 campaign.
