The Utah Jazz have developed into one of the league’s most menacing defensive dynamos.

It’s scary to think that, as accomplished as they seem on that end of the floor, this team still hasn’t peaked. They have a young, promising core and the pillar on the paint is 24-year-old Rudy Gobert.

Last season, the Frenchman averaged 9.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. Gobert holds tremendous promise, but in order for the Jazz to ensure that this ceiling will be realized in Salt Lake City, his contract situation must first be tackled.

According to a report from ESPN’s Marc Stein, Jazz fans shouldn’t worry about their starting center.

Most league insiders agree that Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert remains the most likely candidate, of the 2013 first-rounders still on the board, to land an extension by month's end.

There’s no reason for Utah to hold back on Rudy Gobert as he is a rare commodity these days. He has proven that he owns the work ethic required to take his game to the next level ebe through baby steps.

This preseason, Gobert has shown promising strides in his free throw accuracy. Who’s to say that he can’t work on his postgame in the near future?
