Tiger Woods spoke at length about his humble rise to the top, facing adversity in the form of racism and financial roadblocks that he had to overcome early in his career. If you don't go out there and put in the work, you don't go out there and put in the effort. One you're not going to get the results. But two, more importantly you don't deserve it.”
While Tiger Woods was vocal on needing to earn your success, he shined the spotlight on the unsung heroes behind his career in a sport mostly defined by individual accolades. The people who raised him, trained him, and stood by him during his personal scandals and injury issues all garnered mention during his acceptance speech.
“I know that golf is an individual sport,” Woods said. “We do things on our own a lot for hours on end, but in my case, I didn't get here alone. I had unbelievable parents, mentors, friends, who allowed me and supported me in the toughest times, the darkest of times, and celebrated the highest of times.”
