The Gonzaga Bulldogs suffered another disappointing ending in March Madness this season in a blowout at the hands of the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight. Gonzaga has always had strong preseason hype but can never seem to get over the hump when it comes to the NCAA Tournament.Regular season success does not always translate to the postseason.

Going into next season, not only will they have to replace star center Drew Timme, they will need a replacement on the wings as well. Sophomore guard Hunter Sallis made the surprising decision to enter the transfer portal as per Tobias Bass of The Athletic

Hunter Sallis played a key role in Gonzaga's win over UCLA in the Sweet 16, with his defense in the second half slowing down the Bruins' wings. A former five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American, Sallis committed to Gonzaga over offers from North Carolina and Creighton. Prior to Chet Holmgren's commitment, Sallis was the highest-ranked recruit in Gonzaga history to that point.

This season, Sallis averaged 4.5 points per game, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assist with shooting splits of 46.6 percent from the field, 25.6 percent from the three-point line and 78 percent from the free-throw line. He played in 37 games off the bench for Gonzaga this season in a little less than 17 minutes per game.

Sallis becomes one of the more intriguing names in the transfer portal. He's a quick combo guard who plays well in transition and is comfortable scoring with the ball in his hands. He is also a strong perimeter defensive player.
