The Gonzaga Bulldogs will be happy to hear that their star senior is sticking around for another year. Rasir Bolton is not joining the 2022 NBA Draft class. He tweeted his decision to compete in the NCAA for another year Tuesday afternoon.

This is a pretty surprising announcement, since Bolton previously alluded that the 2021-2022 season was his last with Gonzaga.

Expected or not, this is a huge deal for the Bulldogs. Bolton averaged 11.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists this past season, his first one with Gonzaga. He spent his first three years in the NCAA with different schools before becoming the Bulldogs' starting guard. Bolton spent his first year with Penn State and second and third years with Iowa State.

The 6'3″ senior was also a top contributor to Gonzaga's success this year, along with his fellow starters Andrew Nembhard, Drew Timme, Chet Holmgren, and Julian Strawther. All four of Bolton's co-stars declared for the 2022 NBA Draft, putting him in a huge leadership position for the upcoming season.

Fortunately for Gonzaga, it looks like Bolton is up for the challenge. In his Twitter announcement, the 22-year-old wrote that he wants to “run it back 1 more time.” Although the team has yet to win an NCAA Championship, having Bolton around for another year will certainly put them in a better position to do so.
