On the same day former high school teammate and No. 1 recruit Chet Holmgren committed to Gonzaga, current Bulldogs star freshman Jalen Suggs has declared for the 2021 NBA draft.

Suggs announced his intent to enter the draft with an accompanying NFT announcement commemorating his buzzer-beating three-pointer in the national semifinal. The Minneapolis native is also auctioning off his game-worn sneakers, with the auction officially going live on OpenSea via Jalen Suggs Twitter.

That's a pretty awesome way to declare for the draft, even if Suggs' storybook season with the ‘Zags wasn't quite meant to be.

Gonzaga was overwhelmed by a smothering Baylor Bears defense in the national title game. Suggs still finished the contest with 22 points, but it was a bitter end to what was otherwise an exceptional season.

Suggs was one of the very best playmakers in the country all year long. He showed the ability to get to his spots off the dribble and knock down open triples, also dazzling with tremendous court vision. The game-winner against UCLA made all the headlines, and rightfully so. It was a gripping end to one of the greatest games in NCAA history. But it was a play from earlier in the game that really underscores Suggs' potential as an NBA star.

Gonzaga was desperately searching for momentum when Jalen Suggs made a miraculous block on Bruins big man Cody Riley. He promptly scooped up the loose ball and made an absurd bounce pass to Drew Timme for a dunk.

That play–from the instincts and athleticism to the burst and vision–really highlights the attributes that make Jalen Suggs one of the best prospects in this year's class.

Suggs is widely expected to be a top-five pick come this summer.
