The Memphis Grizzlies reportedly won’t buy out Andre Iguodala. Iguodala is owed $17.2 million this season, the final year of his contract. The 2015 Finals MVP won’t play a single game for the Grizzlies, as he waits to see which team will trade for him.

Iguodala views it as a “blessing in disguise” that he hasn't played yet this season:

Last season for the Golden State Warriors, Iguodala averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He also converted on 50.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 58.2 percent from the free-throw line. The 35-year-old swingman put up 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the 2019 playoffs.

The Iguodala situation could drag on for a while. The Grizzlies remain confident they will be able to fetch some type of return for Iggy, who has been training on his own while away from the Grizzlies.

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the favorites to win the championship this season with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge. They would become the overwhelming favorite to win it all if they were able to acquire Andre Iguodala.

The Lakers have to do whatever it takes to keep Iguodala away from the other team in LA, the Los Angeles Clippers. If the Clippers got Iguodala, they would be absolutely stacked. They already have Kawhi LeonardPaul George, Patrick Beverley and Iguodala as their wing defenders. In other words, it would spell trouble for the rest of the NBA.

LeBron would probably be privately upset if the Clippers got Iguodala instead of his Lakers. “The King” already has a tough time scoring against Leonard and George. With Iguodala in the mix, James would have three stout long defenders defending him at all times.
