After The Murray State Racers pummeled the Greenville Panthers by 78 points, Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies sent out a tweet in support of his alma mater.

Via Twitter, Morant's single-emoji reaction to Murray State's dominant 173-95 win in their home opener says it all. As noted in the tweet, a total of 10 players scored in double figures for the Racers. They shot a stunning 73 percent from the field with 45 assists. At the end of the first half, Murray State already had 87 points as opposed to Greenville's 41.

Per the team's official website, their opening performance shattered several school records. As for one, it now holds the most points scored in a game under the program, breaking the 138-point tally set in 1994. The combined 238 points is now the new school record, overtaking the 233 points scored by Racers and Southeast Missouri in 2014. They've seemed to rebound sooner than expected after losing Ja Morant.

The Racers' 87 first-half point-tally smashed the previous mark at 62 which was reached three times. Their second-half tally of 86 points also surpassed the previous mark of 81 points achieved in 1994 against Campbellsville.

Morant is definitely proud of what his alma matter accomplished. To recall, Morant wasn't a highly-recruited prospect when in high school. His only major NCAA Division 1 offer came from South Carolina. However, Murray State assistant coach James Kane was impressed after seeing Morant playing a 3-on-3 pickup game. Though Murray State is considered a mid-major program, Morant committed to the school.

In two seasons with the Racers, Ja Morant won a host of accolades including the OVC Player of the Year and first-team All-OVC. He also led the NCAA Division 1 in assists in his sophomore year.
