Memphis Grizzlies forward JaMychal Green is back in action Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves after missing about a month with a broken jaw.

Green began the season as the Grizzlies' starting power forward before he suffered the jaw injury against the Atlanta Hawks in the second game of the season. Rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. replaced Green in the starting lineup and will keep his job, so the 28-year-old will now play an important role off the bench.

Green became a mainstay in the Grizzlies' rotation back in 2015-16 and was a starter the last two seasons. He's coming off a career year in which he averaged 10.3 points and 8.4 rebounds in 28.0 minutes per game. He shot 45.7 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from 3.

Jackson is the future, though, and the 19-year-old has been playing well. He's coming off a career-high 27 points in a win over the Sacramento Kings to bring his averages to 12.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 24.9 minutes per contest.

Memphis entered Sunday's game against the Timberwolves with a 9-5 record, which is fifth in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, but they've turned it around so far in 2018-19 thanks to stars Mike Conley and Marc Gasol being healthy again, plus the emergence of Jackson.

The return of JaMychal Green will only bolster their rotation as they look to return to the playoffs.
