The Memphis Grizzlies were one of the teams that made a bit of noise during the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday night. The Grizzlies pulled the trigger on a trade deal that could possibly take this team to the next level in 2022-23.

The Grizzlies decided to part ways with De'Anthony Melton in a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. In exchange, Memphis received the Sixers' No. 23 pick along with Danny Green. The 35-year-old veteran is still dealing with a major knee injury that ended his season with Philly last term. However, it seems that this has not prevented the Grizzlies from bringing the three-time NBA champ to Memphis. So much so, that the Grizzlies reportedly intend to guarantee Green's $10 million deal for 2022-23. This report comes via Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:

Danny Green's $10 million salary for the 2022-23 season will become guaranteed while he recovers from his torn knee.

The Grizzlies used Philly's No. 23 pick to add Colorado State guard David Roddy. He's clearly the big prize in this deal for Memphis, with the 21-year-old swingman looking like a great fit alongside Ja Morant and Co.

Nevertheless, Danny Green could still have value for Memphis. He still doesn't have a timetable with regard to his return from injury, but he should be able to come back at some point next season. Danny Green has a lot of experience under his belt and this could be exactly what the Grizzlies' young core needs.
