Unlike many teams “shutting down” their star players after falling out of playoff contention, the Dallas Mavericks have no plans of holding back their offseason signing Harrison Barnes, claiming that if he wants to play, he will play.

The 6-foot-8 North Carolina product is riding high off his alma mater's NCAA championship and has put up an unexpectedly stellar season for the Mavs. Barnes holds averages of 19.4 points on 46.8 percent shooting from the field, along with 5.1 rebounds per game.

Teams often tend to err on the side of caution, but Barnes has a relatively good bill of health during his five-year career, missing only 21 of 405 total games in the regular season to date.

The 24-year-old will look to make big strides in the offseason as the reins will be handed to him very soon, asking him to lead this morphing team into a winner.
