Atlanta Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon suffered an avulsion fracture of his left ankle during a workout earlier this summer. The 29-year-old was fitted with a walking boot and slated to be re-evaluated at a later date. That later date has come, and it seems he's recovered enough to remove the boot.

The Hawks released an official tweet on Thursday morning to share the good news.

Dedmon's recovery is certainly good news for hoops fans in Atlanta, as he is a solid post player. The Lancaster, California native made 62 appearances with the Hawks during their 2017-18 regular season campaign, averaging 10.0 points on 52.4 percent shooting from the field (35.5 percent from beyond the arc), 7.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and just under one block (0.8) in 24.9 minutes per outing.

The Hawks struggled to find any sort of rhythm last season. Their 24-58 record netted a 5th place finish in the Southeast Division. Dedmon, who picked up his $7.2 million player option for the 2018-19 season earlier this summer, missed a total of 20 games due to injury.

At this point, Dedmon's availability for training camp, which starts later this month, is still not certain. He is to be re-evaluated in two weeks. If Dedmon is unable to play at the start of the coming season, the Hawks would likely call on Alex Len, according to a report from Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report. Len, 25, signed a two-year contract with the team earlier this summer.
